What a shitty two weeks it has been. MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies and the waiting. The damn waiting! The good news is that I’m in the clear and the two masses were benign. There isn’t really any bad news in all of this. I’ve learned a lot and want to shout it all from the mountaintops to anyone that will listen! GET YOUR FLIPPING MAMMO ALREADY! If you have insurance call and ask them when you can get your first baseline…if they say 35 and you’re around that age….GO GET A MAMMOGRAM! If you’re nursing, you can still get a mammo done. It will not do any harm to your or your milk. Lactating breasts are a little harder to get an accurate mammo..but you still can get one. Just take your little one with you and let them nurse right before the exam. Get your facts on your family history and share this info with your doc. If your doc tells you that you do not need a mammo yet but you really want one -schedule a mammo anyways or get another doc. This is your body and your choice. Now if you’re 15 – you probably don’t need one. But if you’re in your mid thirties there is no reason why you can’t get one!
Stay tuned for more info on early detection and better breast health through holistic living.
Naturally yours, Dallas

Breast Cancer can strike as young as 21 so you’re never too young to start checking.
Great News Dallas and keep shouting from the mountains, we wish more people female and male would engage in early screening, for breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancer.
A moments discomfort is nothing compared to dealing with things later.

Glad to hear the good news!
Since you are interested in holistic living, I also wanted to share a new tool to monitor breast health that I recently learned about: breast thermography. (Maybe you know about it also) I wrote a post about it on my blog (http://parentingtips365.com/2009/01/07/breast-thermography-an-important-tool-for-monitoring-breast-health/).
Not many people know about it and it seems to be a great tool. There is a natural health center near me and I am getting the courage up to go get my initial thermography done. I’m still nursing my 2 year old but that doesn’t matter for thermograms. I will definitely write about it when I do!

I haven’t done the breast thermography yet but it’s on the calendar! Thanks for posting and feel free to come back and let us know how it goes!
