gummi crib rail cover review II

Well, I hate to do it…but I’m really disappointed with the Gummi Crib Rail Cover. They keep coming off and the instructions say to use a blow dryer to heat them up to get them to stick back on but they won’t stick (PLUS – who’s got the time to stand over your little one’s crib for 30 minutes blow drying a crib rail cover back on.)

I’ve lost two of them now and once the glue strip comes off – the rail covers are pretty much useless. Not to mention that the glue strip itself came off the rail cover and stuck to the crib which them ended up in Kiki’s mouth. The crib rail covers stick on firmly the first time but the least bit of tugging on them and they come right off. It’s a great concept but not very durable. I had to buy four of them and at $10 a pop, I’ve just tossed $20 down the crapper. Sux.

Not sure what other options are out there for those of us who have a crib with round crib rails…anyone come up with anything let me know!

Gummi crib rail cover

I swear to you, it seems like all of Kiki’s teeth are coming in at once! The poor guy will take anything that he can get his chubby little hands on and shove it in his mouth. If it’s something that not going to poison, break off, chip away or kill him…I usually will let him have a few minutes of chewing pleasure before I take it away in which a total meltdown ensues.

Kiki is finally sleeping through the night and in the morning will let us know he is ready to get up but just giving us a shout-out! And sometimes he’s quite content to just hang in there for a few while we get coffee and make his morning bottle. I thought he was just in there chilling but apparently he’s taken up woodworking because he was completely gnawed down the front crib rail and recently has begun work on the side rails. So what do I do? I hope in the minivan and head out to the local baby supply superstore!!!

And OF COURSE they don’t have crib rail guards to fit his crib. Kiki’s crib has the rounded crib rail on the front and the side rails are rectangular. But I bought the crib rails they had for the side rails hoping that if he chewed on them and noticed how good it felt…he would just stick to chewing on the rail that made him feel good. Yeah, in addition to that I was hoping he could give me his thoughts on the weakening of the US dollar and what he thought should be done to implement a universal health care system. I know, I know – he is only 9 1/2 months old. Anyway – nothing that I bought fit anywhere on the crib so I head back to baby super store and try again.

And guess what I found??? Something new that I had not seen the first time I was there. (It probably was there but I just missed. ) Ok – it’s called a Kidkusion Gummi Crib Rail. It’s self adhesive, non toxic, non vinyl and phthalate free! YAHOO! It was like $10 for 50″ worth of rail covering. It was super easy to install and I busted Kiki this morning gnawing away on it!!

Here is there site to check them out. They have several other neat baby/kid home safety items but if you’re looking for a crib rail guard..I would definitely suggest Kid Kusion’s Gummi Crib Rail Cover.
