I’ve been using Alba Botanica sunscreens for a couple of years now. I love the way they smell, feel and the fact that they are paraben free, 100% vegetarian and not tested on animals. The trinity is what I call it…those three things are pretty important to me. And when you have kids you tend to focus alot on the “paraben free” part of that trinity. And I’ve lathered my Kiki more than once with Alba’s sunscreen and and it’s never let me down. But..then…damn it! I was talking to my sister in law the other day and we got on the subject of sunscreen and how the place that she normally buys Alba Botanica from no longer carries it because Avalon Natural Products (company that makes Alba Botanica) is in the middle of some big lawsuit. Well, after a little bit of digging around I found some info about it on another blog. Seems that Avalon Natural Products is using a chemical called 1,4 Dioxane in some of their products (dish soap, body washes, gels) and that this chemical is known in the State of Cali to cause some forms of cancer. And this is the kicker….they have not been putting this ingredient on the labels. So if they left that off…what else are they leaving off? Here is the link to the blog where I found this info.
